Does Life Insurance Cover Surfing?

I’m looking at Life Insurance but I also like to partake in extreme sports, mainly surfing. Would that be covered under my policy?

The Type of Surfing You Do May Impact Your Life Insurance…

Hazardous pursuits and past times need to be considered when taking out Life Insurance.

Insurers are usually happy to cover surfing and similar activities and hobbies. For example, if you are surfing at the local beach, or surfing for a sports club then you will generally be covered. Take the scenario that you are surfing at your local beach and have an accident whilst doing this; you will normally be fully covered if you unfortunately passed away.

If you are surfing in a competitive or extreme capacity or off UK shores, many insurers will ask further questions relating to this. For example, if you are surfing big waves in Portugal, insurers might start getting nervous. Also, insures are unlikely to cover you if you surf on a paid professional or paid semi-professional basis.
