Does Life Insurance Cover Skiing?

I’m getting quotes for Life Insurance and don’t know if skiing is included in the cover and would it pay out if I was to have an accident on the slopes? I can’t find much information about this online. Can you help?

How Insurers View Sports Such as Skiing

This is a very common question and there is often confusion as to whether a Life Insurance policy would pay out as a result of a skiing accident. For most people the extent of their skiing is solely for holiday purposes, maybe once or twice per year, and on-piste. If you fall within this category then there are certainly insurers on the market who will include skiing within the cover as standard.

How often and where you ski is important

If, however, you are skiing more regularly, maybe at a competitive level or in more dangerous locations (possibly off-piste), you could expect a different outcome, depending on the insurer.

For anyone involved in this level of skiing you could be charged an additional premium, or may even have skiing excluded from cover.

Insurers will asses each situation and offer the best terms they are able to provide, but not all insurers will come to the same conclusion.
