What Is A 6 Week Wait Option? Watch Our FAQ Video

With your Private Health Insurance, there are so many terms you might not have come across before. The 6 week wait option being one of them. So, we asked our very own, Alex Weir, to explain what it is for you. Just press play! 👇

A Method Of Reducing The Cost Of Premiums

The 6 week wait option is one of a number of ways you can reduce the cost of Health Insurance.

By adding it to your policy, if you needed treatment you would get it via the NHS if the waiting list was less than 6 weeks. If the waiting list exceeded 6 weeks you would be eligible to receive your treatment privately straightaway.

The 6 week NHS wait only impacts inpatient treatment — if you have outpatient cover on your policy, you’ll be seen privately as soon as possible regardless of the waiting list for NHS outpatient diagnostic care.

Because the 6 week wait option reduces the risk of you needing to make a claim, insurers will reduce your Health Insurance premiums. In some cases they can be reduced by as much as a third.
