I’m thinking about taking out Income Protection insurance, as a keen surfer would I be covered if I have an accident whilst surfing?
All the UK insurers have different appetites when it comes to certain sporting activities.
Some insurers have larger risk tolerances for water sports than others. We have found in the past that many insurers are happy to cover occasional surfing whilst on holiday for example.
If surfing is done in a competitive nature or on a professional level and more frequently, then most insurers are likely to exclude claims relating to surfing and some insurers have also increased the deferral period (waiting period) before a claim can be paid out.
