Legal & General has revealed its 2019 claims data. It paid £731m across all protection policies last year, with the total value of payouts policyholders received over the past 5 years standing at close to £3 billion.
Legal & General has just released its 2019 claims data, which reveals that the major UK insurer paid:
Legal & General Life Insurance paid 97% of all Life Insurance claims it received in 2019, paying out £392.4 million in total.
The three most common causes of death that triggered a payout last year were:
Legal & General paid Income Protection benefits to 517 families in 2019, with total payments standing at £1.13 million.
Musculoskeletal disorders (33%) were the leading cause for an Income Protection claim, followed by cancer (17%) and mental health issues (12%).
Legal & General paid £224 million in Critical Illness Insurance claims last year across a total of 2,251 policies. Cancer accounted for 66% of all claims, followed by heart attacks (21%) and strokes (6%).
The average Critical Illness Insurance policy payout last year was £66,857.
