How Income Protection Cover Works

Income Protection will cover you if you are off work and unable to do your job due to accident and sicknesses.

Frequently, many people think that their income is only protected inside work. However, the insurance will pay out for anything that renders you unable to work due to an accident or illness, regardless of whether or not it is caused by your job.

Am I Covered If I’m in a Cycle Accident?

Insurers are happy to cover cycling and similar activities and hobbies. For example, if you are cycling to work, or cycling for a sports club then you will usually be covered.

For example, take the scenario that you are riding a bike in the middle of a busy street and you were in a collision with a vehicle. The injuries sustained from that accident will be covered if it means you cannot do your job.

Competitive Cycling

Even if you are cycling in a competitive capacity with many insurers, then it does not automatically mean you are not covered. It really depends on what you do.

Where this is not usually covered is if you cycle as a paid professional or semi professional or it is very extreme, like entering BMX or downhill mountain biking competitions.
