Obtaining Critical Illness cover after suffering a serious condition such as a heart attack
This question isn’t as straightforward as just a yes or a no; it would depend on a number of health and lifestyle factors as to whether terms would even be offered for critical illness cover if you have already suffered a heart attack.
Other factors that will be taken into account
Factors that would be taken into account include your age, smoker status, if you had surgery, how long ago the heart attack occurred, how many vessels in the heart have been affected, if there are any ongoing issues/problems and if there are any other conditions that could be associated with the heart attack or not.
The best way to move forward is to obtain as much information as possible about the heart attack from your GP or surgeon and give that to your financial adviser so they can speak to each insurers underwriting department to establish which insurer will offer you the most favourable terms with the best price.
