This is a good question, one of which we do come across regularly. With your other insurances, typically, there are certain waiting periods before a claim can be made.
You can make a claim as soon as the policy is live
With Critical Illness Insurance specifically, there are no waiting periods or ‘qualifying periods’- you can claim as soon as your policy has been underwritten and you have been notified that your policy is live.
How setting up a policy works
The steps of setting up a policy are very simple. You will have to run through an application form with an adviser to let the insurer know about the risk they are about to take on. Generally, if the insurer is happy to take on that risk you will get a decision right away. If you are notified the policy is live then you are covered right away.
