Where is my Personal Pension Invested?

I have a couple of company pensions from previous employers but I’m not sure how well they are doing. How do I find out where my pension funds are invested?

That depends on the type of pension you have.

If you hold a defined contribution or money purchase pension, your pension pot will usually be invested in a fund or multiple funds.

What Type of Funds Will My Personal Pension Be Invested In?

These funds would usually hold stocks and shares (both UK and overseas), bond, gilts, property and cash. It is your responsibility to ensure your selected funds match your appetite for risk. A financial adviser can provide pension advice to help ensure your fund selection is appropriate.

Final Salary Pensions Are a Promise

If your retirement benefits are held in a final salary scheme then the investment strategy is the responsibility of the scheme trustees. It is down to your employer to make good any shortfall in funding.

Please feel free to get in touch to find out what type of pension you have and the funds your money is invested in. We are able to request this information from your pension schemes administrator on your behalf.
