Seek advise from an expert
In this case it sounds like you have cover through your Union and they have changed the insurer to one with weaker cover and it’s had a very negative impact on your ability to continue your claim. As this is a legal issue it might be worth contacting the Citizens Advice Bureau and making a complaint to both the Union and the new insurer. If you are not satisfied with the outcome of the complaint you can then take it to the Financial Ombudsman Service who has the power to award compensation.
As we don’t arrange cover for Unions I cannot really help much more than that, apologies. I wish you the best of luck in resolving this. Once you have it might be worth looking into taking out your own policy so something like this cannot happen in the future rather than using the Union scheme.
